COMPONENT READY TO FABRICATION WORKSHOP

ELISAVA BIODESIGN RESEARCH LAB AND TU DELFT HYPERBODY RESEARCH GROUP / TU Delft WORKSHOP 29/11 to 04/12
The workshop starts on the assumption that the students/researchers have a high level of trainee on the field of designing special organizations through the form finding strategies, particularly orientated on performative proliferation material systemse

Day 1:
Projects Presentation. Starting 10:00 am
The participants of the two universities will present their projects in order to situate the capacities, similarities end possible synergies among the projects to later on establish the collaborative teams.
Systems Integration. starting 1:00 pm
After the presentations, The new teams consisting in two components from HYPERBODY and two components from ADDA, will work on the idea of combining the two systems in a new revisited hybrid proposal.
This new system will include some particularities, performance capacities and material organization logics coming from the two former projects. This phase has to be fast and dynamic; making the hybridization easy will produce a better effect on the final work of the group. We have to keep in mind that there is a lot of development to put forward, so teams have to be flexible to integrate and share knowledge, the final proposal is something new for the two teams, and basically consist on exploring real scale component building fabrication techniques and design.
The second part of the morning will consist on reconfiguring the capacities of the component system and defining a proliferation rules to create a special organization.
Presentation. Starting 5:00 pm
The new proposal will be presented by series of prototypes and 3d modeling.
Laser cut will be used to produce a piece of proliferated assembled system.

Day 2:
Revisited Hybrid. Starting 9:00 am
The morning will be dedicated on the definition and detailing of the new component system
For this phase a specific morphology will be tested.
Selection of 1:1 system area ready to fabrication. Starting 1:00
The second part will be dedicated on selecting the area of the proposed new material system, and deciding the prototype scale.
We will deeply focus on the fabrication process. Deciding number of components to fabricate, classifying groups of differentiation, numbering a number of casting mold to produce the prototype.
A proper assembly solution has to be designed, this will be a priority task leaded by a part of the team. Some prototypes have to be tested to find the best way to assembly and the proper material.

Day 3:
Process for Manufacturing. Starting 9:00
We will continue focused on the fabrication process.
The task will focus on the drawing the families of the components that are going to be fabricated, if necessary some will have to be unfold into 2d surfaces, and preparing the templates for the plaster.
At the same time teams will have to Model the surfaces properly to be milled.
Simultaneously, first cnc milling strategies will start to be test in rhino cam.
Milling. Starting 4:00
The three first groups will start milling the casts

Day 4:
Milling. Starting 9:00
The second 3 teams will expand the morning cutting the casts.
During the day teams will start producing the first plaster components using the fabricated casts
Simultaneously, the design of the assembly logics will be ready to cut, or fabricate at the workshop using different materials.
Some rendering of the possible future have to be produced for a particular site
At the same time a part of the team will work on the layout of the presentation and the PDf

Day 5:
Assembling: Starting 9:00
During the day teams will start assembling and finishing the big prototypes.
Some rendering of the possible future have to be produced for a particular site.
At the same time a part of the team will work on the layout of the presentation and the PDf
Documentation of the hole process will be required at final presentation.
